Super Murphy and Kizzie Whizz
It has been so cold that Kizzie has had to wear her fleece jumper at night, although she still pokes her feet and nose under the covers :) Murphy doesn't have a fleece jumper so he tried on my cardi.

Yum part two
Another trial package of food arrived today. This one is Purizon I ordered the fish version to see if it suited Kizzie. There was some interest when I opened the pack, Kizzie tried a piece of kibble and sat and waited for the next piece. Murphy ate his and wandered off. Not as gobble worthy as the duck from the other day then.

Yum
I sent for a trial box of new food from 'Bob and Lush' http://www.bobandlush.com/adult-sample-box.html
There was a bit of pushing and wriggling before bottoms hit the deck and the duck kibble was gobbled up and lips licked. I didn't dare give Kizzie any of the lamb dinner, but Murphy appreciated it very much. Sadly I didn't have seconds. He seemed quite sad about that. I am hoarding the dried duck breast and they get a tiny piece when they don't bark at passers by.
It is tricky, I want them to bark and scare off burglers and annoying people who come to the door. But I am fed up of falling off my chair in shock every time they see someone 100 feet away. Trouble is, once someone comes through the gate they both assume that it is a new best friend and wag like crazy. (Except for the postman)
sigh

sticky bobble collecting
For the last couple of weeks our days have been dedicated to getting sticky bobbles off Kizzie without Murphy picking them up. First they go for their run, then one of use takes a comb to Kizzie whilst the other brushes Murphy. One attempts to keep them from picking the seeds back up whilst one hoovers.
Then we spend the rest of the day picking bobbles and grass seeds off one or the other.
Murphy just sighs and lets us get on with it
It beats scrubbing mud off them though :)

yum
Goats milk yoghurt
honey
banana
I bought an ice cream maker to make the hooligans own ice cream (him indoors liked my own made stuff too, but I am not sure I am prepared to spend 15 minutes making custard again). Anyway for my little darlings ice cream, I stuffed a piece of banana into the hole in the bottom of the kongs and whizzed the yoghurt and honey through the ice cream maker, then stuffed the kong. Freezer for a couple of hours, and the hooligans had a lovely 5 minutes in the garden with them. They keep licking their lips so I assume the sticky honey is lingering :)
I am not sure you need the gadget though, it would be just as easy to simply put the yoghurt in a kong and freeze it .... hmmm However I got my maker on the tesco voucher exchange - it was half price, and spending vouchers that I got free. So it was a bargain ;)

dog friendly beach
During the period March to October few beaches allow dogs. We have one an hour or so away so the hooligans get to charge about and splash in the sea. And dig.
Yesterday we noticed 2 dog wardens watching. There were lots of dogs running about having fun and I hope the wardens report back that the dogs had a good time, were well behaved and the humans picked up. I will be sad if this bit of coast bans families with dogs.

tired out
Kizzie knows better than to leave her chew laying around. Murphy isn't called "Two Chews" for nothing. She really was fast asleep here

We went to the seaside
As it was such a nice day we took ourselves off to the beach. We had a lovely couple of hours.
On the way back we had only been in the car a few minutes when Kizzie leaned over the back seat and started to whine very insistantly. B pulled into a layby right across from a deer park! There were lots of "stay....staaay..." whilst we opened the boot, but they were as good as gold and sat and waited whilst we put the leads on. Phew!! As they jumped out I realised why Kiz had been so upset. There was a very large puddle of vomitty looking stuff. Poor little love used to get very car sick but she has been fine lately. Luckily we always pile the boot with blankets so I just lifted the top one out and shook it by the side of the road, noticing at the same time that the kibble forming a large part of the pile was in fact Murphy's. That's a first. Bless my little girl she was telling me that Murphy was ill :)
As we drove home we could see huge flashes of lightening and the sky got darker and darker. It was the biggest storm I have driven through, lightening striking down to the ground, thunder fit to deafen and pounding rain that the wipers couldn't keep up with. The roads were flooded and it did get a bit scary, but we were very brave as we didn't want to frighten the dogs.
All is well that ends well , both hooligans are fast asleep with full bellies as they have just eaten their dinners and the sun is shining

tears
Something happened yesterday. I was out in my studio (aka garage), the hooligans were playing in the garden. I looked up and saw Murphy laying on the grass chewing his chewy but couldn't see Kizzie. After a quick look around I went back into the studio and there she was. Under my desk. Fast asleep. It was one of those 'perfect moments'.
My beautiful Katydog was supposed to sleep under my desk but she died before the building was completed and somehow it never became the space it was intended to be - our space.
I did gulp a bit.
I may regret saying this, but Kizzie didn't even try to steal anything. Either I have Kizzie-proofed my space or she is growing up. Time will tell :)

good dogs
Well they have been mostly good, apart from the new hole in the lawn...
I bought them a new toy today, it was a pink flamingo which honked. B told me not to let them take it outside, but I was going out so...
sigh!!!!
Murphy didn't mind Kizzie having the toy as he had his squeaky ball
or should I say balls?
Kizzie did think about taking one off him but she thought better of it and instead taunted him with the squawking cockeral. He wasn't impressed. Here she is waiting for him to make a run for it, it is on the bottom right of the photo. He didn't bother, Kizzie is way faster than him
They did wonder what had happened to the flamingo.
It is on my desk waiting to dry (Murphy dribbles on Everything) and then I will sew it back together without the stuffing. It will live to play another day

Nice cream
I bought two pots, one each and both were slurped for England :) For once Kizzie finished first and tried to muscle in on Murphy's. I expect I will be buying it again then....

busy day
I met a friend whilst out walking today so the dogs go an extra go-round the field. They slept for hours
Today it is raining, but the hooligans still went out for their walk (although not with me). Hmm, Murphy's curls are back
I do love a sleeping dog, it is much easier to take photos.
Did I mention that we filled in the holes in the lawn? Re-seeded. Carefully nurtured the new grass? Even mowed it twice? I saw this look come over Kizzie, ran to the door shouting NO!. Too late. Sigh. Anyway, the hole is filled in, seeds planted and mesh pegged over the space for protection. Again.
Imagine, I am in bed, just waking up. B comes in with something in his hand and shows it to me, "what do you think this is". I took it, looked, decided it was the remains of a squeaky from one of their toys. "oh" he says, "Murhpy threw it up last night". sigh

First hair cut day
Murphy had his first ever hair cut today. He was very good and stood till whilst I ran the clippers over him. I had a huge pile of clippings, it looked like a little lamb had been shorn :)Kizzie sat close by and watched very closely, not sure whether she was making sure I didn't hurt her boy, or whatever
Kizzie just had her eyebrows trimmed today
It's very tiring having your first hair cut
Supervising is tiring too
We are having new flooring laid and they were very good today whilst one room was done. No hooliganism or even barking. Of course if it wasn't for them I wouldn't be replacing my nice light carpets with easy to clean laminate :)

It is a good thing Murphy is so cute
Murphy woke me up in the early hours, he needed to go outside. He came in and trundled back upstairs to bed. I waited for Kizzie to come in, and waited, called her. Eventually I went out (it was blooming cold) and couldn't see her. She must have slipped past me in my half asleep stupor.
I went upstairs to check and there she was fast asleep on the pillow next to Brian. I turned to go back to bed and stepped in something. It felt like a tiny bit of mud. I scraped it off my toe and sniffed......
Bloody dog!
I hopped to the bathroom and washed my foot, had a look at the stairs, and every second one had a Murphy toe sized spot of something suspicious looking. By now Murphy had jumped on B's bed so I calmly closed the door and sloped off to my room, making sure to shut my door properly. No point in having poo in every room? ;)

New year old tricks
31st December 2011. The hooligans were playing at duffing each other up, Murphy pushed Kizzie and she fell onto a pile of stinky doo. She came home and straight into the bath, B had to poke poo out of the holes in her collar and clean the disks. Yum!
1st January 2012. 4am I woke to the sound of retching, Murphy throwing up in his bed.
Happy New Year from me and B, Kizzie and Murphy and Ben (he goes home tomorrow)
