Kizzie's puppy teeth have gone
I could say that we dragged Kizzie, quaking and wailing into the vets. But I would be lying. She walked off with vet Mathew, wagging her tail and didn't even look back. When we went to collect her, she took one look at the car and tried to go back into the vets. Kizzie is fine if a little drunk-like and wobbly, she has stitches in her gums. We have to keep her quiet for the rest of the day but back to normal tomorrow.
Whilst she was away this morning, a package came with Kizzie's new bed and her new huge crate. So far she is not impressed with either.

Kizzie needs an operation
I may be exagerating a little. Kizzie has to have some of her puppy teeth taken out. Her new teeth are through but haven't pushed the baby teeth out, Kiz has a little hole in the roof of her mouth where a new tooth is rubbing.
We had a lovely walk this morning, I took her to Mareham Pastures
http://www.marehampastures.co.uk/ which involved a gentle ride in the car. Kizzie had a lovely walk alongside a pretty Jack Russell, they played and ran around together so nicely, we met other dogs and Kizzie had a great time. She doesn't like being in the car and when we got home, she jumped out like a dog possessed. She limped into the house. Then she cried, couldn't get comfy, wouldn't be comforted and was obviously in pain. Eventually I gave her a peanut butter kong and put her in her crate to get some rest. I made an appointment with our vet to check her leg.
Brian came home a couple of hours later and Kizzie was a bit quiet but otherwise fine. No limping, (maybe mum knew best for once and the rest was all she needed). However we kept the appointment just to be on the safe side.
I mentioned the hole in the roof of her mouth just as an aside, but it turned out to be a bit of a problem and will result in Kizzie having an anesthetic on Thursday to have her puppy teeth removed. If we leave them, the new teeth won't grow straight and she may have problems forever. The good news is that Kizzie was as good as gold whilst she was examined, no wriggling or anything. I think perhaps she doesn't like being on the table as today she was examined on the floor. She did manage to piddle on the floor of both the reception area and the vet's office. Still my girl then :)
Today I ordered her a new bed.

Kizzie's weekend
Brian and I drove South to attend Emma's wedding, Kizzie stayed with Maz, Jan and Ellie. To read about her weekend see http://ellie-collie.blogspot.com/
Poor Maz had some cleaning up to do.
When it was time to bring Kizzie home, she escaped from me and had a whale of a time running around in the road outside Maz's home. Lovely Kizz will come when we call her, unfortunately her sense of humour outstrips her sense of duty. She came fine, but she swerved around me and ran off again. Over and over. Eventually Maz's intelligence outstripped hers and she was rounded up.
It is lovely to have my girl back, at this moment she is fast asleep under my chair. My task is to find the right class so that I can learn how to teach Kizzie to be the best she can be. I do sometimes wonder if I am good enough for this beautiful, bright and clever dog.

I think it might be time for a new bed too.

tooth fairy
A couple of days ago Kizzie was whining and looking pretty sorry for herself. I had a look in her mouth and "oh my goodness" she had two rows of teeth, the adult teeth sitting alongside her baby ones. I gave her ice cubes and held her chewy stick for her because I love her really. Anyway, today I looked and the tooth fairy has been and stolen one of those razor sharp baby teeth. You cannot believe how glad I am to see the back of that one, I hope the other goes the same way soon.
leave my holes alone
Brian filled in the holes today, good soil, plenty of grass seed and a topping of fine sand. As he moved to the next hole, Kizzie re-dug. Brian re-filled....
Brian has had to go for a lie down. I got into trouble for mentioning that those holes were Kizzies.
Tonight on our walk, Kizzie picked up a dessicated frog. I had to take it out of her mouth, what with that and the worm she ate this morning I have realised that I don't like dogs anymore.

Kizzie has a friend
We were out walking and met a lovely black labrador and her human. The lab was carrying a ball, she dropped it, Kizzie grabbed it and ran. The lab ran after her. After a couple of minutes, Kizzie dropped the ball. The lab grabbed it and ran. Kizzie ran after her. This game went on for ages, the two dogs sharing the ball and chasing about. It was possibly one of the nicest things I have seen ever. I have a lump in my throat thinking about it. The best things in life are free..
Giggle ball
Kizzie has a giggle ball. I put treats inside and she rolls it around trying to get them out. The ball makes a giggle sound and bounces off the walls and furniture so not a game to play when I am trying to watch tv.
Ben the greyhound also has a giggle ball. He has mastered the art of openning the little door the treats come out of and now simply rocks it back and forth. At least C and family get to watch tv.
Kizzie dug a hole in my lawn yesterday.
we went to see the vet
Kizzie got her microchip yesterday, she was so busy eating a treat that she didn't even notice. Then we asked the vet to clip her nails. At least she didn't actually bite him although who knew a dog could wriggle so much? I have introduced Kizz to a comb, she tried to eat it and when I tried to put it anywhere near her she tried to eat me. I always wanted a scruffy dog and it seems I may get my wish :)

Kizzie barks at man who shouldn't be there
Kizzie was laying on her stool with her nose stuffed into my old slipper. She heard something and jumped to look out. There was a man outside and he shouldn't be there. Kizzie had a good old bark, then she picked up her slipper and waved it at the man. You know what? He went away. I am not sure what that says about my slippers..
